He became the first golfer in the history of the sport to simultaneously hold back-to-back titles in two of the sport’s major championships by virtue of his victories at the PGA Championship in 2018 and the U.S. Open in 2017 and 2018. It was on the European Challenge Tour where he made his professional debut before moving on to the European Tour. He attended Florida State University, where he was on the golf team.

Brooks Koepka Early Life

Born in West Palm Beach on May 3, 1990, Brooks Koepka spent his formative years in neighboring Lake Worth. The younger sibling he has is named Chase, and he is also a professional golfer. Koepka attended Cardinal Newman High School, a Roman Catholic, elite, all-boys institution, throughout his high school years. He continued his education at Florida State University, where his golfing career was highlighted by three individual victories and three All-American honors

Koepka won three events while playing golf for Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he also earned three All-American honors. In 2012, he made it as an amateur all the way to the U.S. Open, however, he was eliminated in the first round.

Koepka became a professional in the summer of 2012 and immediately joined the European Challenge Tour. At the September Challenge de Catalunya, he finally got his maiden victory.  As of 2013, he already owned two Challenge Tour titles thanks to his triumph at the 2013 Montecchia Golf Open.

A month later, he won his third tournament overall at the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana, where his score of 260  was a new tournament record and he won by a record 10-stroke margin. It wasn’t until the Scottish Hydro Challenge three weeks later that he won for the third time this year.

These three victories were enough to secure his spot on the European Tour for the rest of the 2013 season and all of 2014.  Koepka qualified for the 2013 Open Championship the day following his third victory on the 2013 Challenge Tour. Koepka finished T12 in his European Tour debut at the Scottish Open (he played in three events before being promoted to membership).

Younger brother Chase Koepka is also a successful golfer.  As the sole team tournament on the 2019 PGA Tour schedule, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans featured the brother’s partnership. His great-uncle Dick Groat was a professional baseball player.

Koepka proposed to actress Jena Sims on April 1, 2021. They tied the knot in Turks & Caicos on June 4, 2022. The  Whole Swing, a Netflix sports documentary, debuted on the streaming service on February 15, 2023, and features an appearance by Koepka.
