As our homicide investigation into the case of “Chris Kaba Was Shot and Killed by Police” in Lambeth, south London, develops, our detectives are compiling and reviewing a considerable quantity of information.
London Police Shot Chris Kaba; Inquest Begins
The family of the 24-year-old victim, who was killed on September 5 after being shot through the windshield of a car in Streatham Hill, received condolences from the coroner, Andrew Harris.
The family of Mr. Kaba has requested that a swift determination be made on whether or not criminal charges should be pursued in the matter.
The marksman with the Metropolitan Police Department who was responsible for the deadly shot has been suspended.
The Inner South London Coroner’s Court heard that Mr. Kaba, who was not armed, was behind the wheel of an Audi that had been linked by police to a weapons incident the day before; however, his identity was not included in the dossier that was given to the officers. On it was also a marker for automated number plate recognition (ANPR), which had been set.
At 21:52 BST, about 15 minutes before the shooting, law enforcement personnel in an unmarked police car that lacked both lights and sirens started a chase of the suspect.
After driving the Audi along Kirkstall Gardens, Mr. Kaba was stopped by a marked police car, and according to the evidence shown in court, there was contact between the Audi and the police cars.
Mr. Kaba was struck in the head by a single bullet that entered the vehicle via the windshield and was fired by a cop who was standing in front of the Audi.
After being brought to the hospital, he passed away just after midnight on September 6th, 2018. A “gunshot wound to the head” was listed as a possible cause of death for the deceased person.
His cousin Jefferson Bosela made the following statement as he stood outside the coroner’s court: “An immediate judgment on criminal charges is important for this family and many others to have trust in a system that is intended to deliver them justice.”
According to him, many neighborhoods in London experienced a “very personal” feeling as a result of the shooting since Mr. Kaba could have been their kid. Must read: In a February Traffic Collision, a Murder Accusation Was Brought
The family has requested that the officers involved be interrogated under caution and that the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) keep the family updated with its inquiry. In addition, the family has requested that the police officers be held accountable for their actions.
Mr. Bosela continued, saying, “This should never have occurred. I am here with Mr. Kaba’s mother Helen Lumuanganu and his father Prosper Kaba.” This must never occur again.
“We must never allow ourselves to regard this as the norm. Someone needs to take responsibility for this.”
When he passed away, Mr. Kaba, a worker in the construction industry, was about to become a parent.

The family of Mr. Kaba expressed their “concern” at the news that the investigation was expected to endure between six and nine months after it was verified by the IOPC.
