Edward Regan Murphy was born on April 3rd, 1961 in the borough of Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. Two years later, Murphy became a household name all over the world because of his portrayal in the movie “Beverly Hills Cop.” For his work in the film, he was even considered for a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.
Coming to America, the romantic comedy he co-starred in with Arsenio Hall, was his second big hit, and it, too, was a major commercial and critical triumph. In the year 1996, Murphy had a role in the comedy film titled “The Nutty Professor,” which was a commercially successful film.
In the ‘Shrek movie franchise, he also provided his voice for the character of Donkey. Murphy’s subsequent role was in the film “Dreamgirls,” which was released in 2006. In spite of this, he went on to star in a number of films following that, such as “Meet Dave,” “Imagine That,” and “Tower Heist.”
