Ballerina, a John Wick spinoff from Lionsgate, won’t be dancing into theaters for quite some time. The action-thrill flick starring Ana de Armas will dance into theaters on June 7, 2024, the company said on Tuesday. Director Len Wiseman (Underworld) uses a Shay Hatten script (Army of the Dead, Day Shift, John Wick: Chapter 4).
Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas as an assassin educated in the customs of the Ruska Roma, expands the John Wick universe based on characters invented by Derek Kolstad. We are beyond excited about the newest step toward growing the John Wick universe—the Ballerina release date!
In the action-packed spinoff, Ana de Armas co-stars with Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, the late Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves. According to reports, the idea originally began as a “completely distinct, original action concept” that was “even more outrageous than John Wick.” The directors eventually came up with a method to integrate it into the Wick universe.
Ana de Armas expressed excitement about working with Reeves on the movie in a February interview with TotalFilm. We’ve been filming in Prague for four months. There is still one month left. And I’m hurt. My body, my back, everything hurts, you know. I’m whining, I’m hurt, and I have bruises.

A fifteen-minute bond. This is a complete movie on a different level. “John Wick is a longer cameo, and Ian [McShane] has a little more to do. For approximately a week, he [McShane] shot. For a day, Lance [Reddick] engaged in shooting. In a sense, those were also last-minute additions, producer Erica Lee said of the John Wick cast’s cameos in Ballerina.
