Kim shared details about her relationship with Barry on the official Plath family website, which has since been taken down.
The TV matriarch shared, “God revealed to Barry and me that we were going to marry in the spring of 1997, on the same day, before either of us ever talked about it or showed any interest in the other.”
Kim has also shared the news that she and Barry married at the wedding in July of 1997.
“Our marriage has been a continuing journey of development, refinement, hardship, pain, and love,” she continued.

In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, the Welcome to Plathville actors announced their divorce after 24 years of marriage.
Kim, 49, and Barry, 54, said, “After much consideration, we have chosen to dissolve our marriage.” “This was not an easy choice to make, but we are confident it will benefit us both in the long run. We will co-parent our wonderful children as we move on from this difficult chapter in our 24-year marriage.”

Likewise, the daughter shared her thoughts and feelings about the breakup. “I just want her and my dad to be happy,” she stated. “They have such opposing goals that it’s difficult to watch. My mom isn’t pleased with my dad, but I want him to be happy.”
So it’s just, I dunno, people change,” she said. “Sometimes things break down. All you need is the ability to support yourself.”
