Life Below Zero Season 19 Release Date Expectations!

Life Below Zero is a BBC Worldwide Productions documentary series that premiered on National Geographic on May 19th, 2013. The series is filmed in Alaska, USA, and currently has 18 seasons and over 150 episodes in total. The episodes of this documentary series have an average runtime of about 60 minutes.

The series has had a long list of executive producers since day one. Along with Joseph Litzinger and Tim Pastore and Elli Hakami on this list are Trav Shakespeare, Kevin Tao Mohs, Jane Tranter.

It is the goal of the show to portray the difficulties of life in Alaska’s outlying regions, as well as the dangers and difficulties faced by those who live there. The show has done so well, especially in terms of being appreciated for its cinematography, and has been nominated for and even won many awards accordingly.

Life Below Zero has won numerous Primetime Emmy Awards, including ‘Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program’ in 2016, ‘Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program’ in 2017, and ‘Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program’ in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, among others. And yet another award for ‘Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program’ at the Primetime Emmy Awards 2021.

Though the show has a large audience and has continued for such a long time, no renewal has been made yet. The show will most likely get renewed for a 19th season sometime later as season 18 concluded only recently. It is very rare these days to see a show cross the 15 seasons mark

If season 19 is announced, it will likely follow the same premise as before. There will be fresh content as life in Alaska has different struggles every day and new challenges will certainly arise as the world progresses.

Life Below Zero Season 18 Recap

Documentary following the daily lives of those who live and thrive in Alaska’s remote areas is based on the genres of adventure and reality television. You’ll learn about how they’ve adapted to the harsh conditions they’ve found themselves in, as well as their daily routines, jobs, and more. It’s all about arctic spring in the first episode of Season 18, which introduces a whole new set of challenges and opportunities. Episodes 2 and 3 continue the story that began in episode 1, focusing on the inhabitants’ reactions to the arrival of spring and the changes it brings.

This includes newly open waters and even animals coming out of hibernation. It’s clear from the fourth episode that the summer months are a great time to brush up on important life skills like survival. Episodes 5 and 6 see the residents of remote Alaska make the best of the long hours of sunlight and eventually prepare for the coming fall. The season of fall is covered in episodes 7 and 8 where though the weather is changing, it is still mild compared to what is ahead. They use this time to learn, analyze and prepare for the tough winter. Finally, in episodes 9 and 10 winter arrives along with the freezing temperatures and strong winds. The residents must use all the skills and tools they possess to face these harsh conditions. In the Finale, they pass down these skills and traditions to their children, so the next generation is prepared to face the Alaskan wilderness.

Carol Hailstone, Andy Bassich, Glenn Villeneuve, Jessie Holmes, and Kate Rorke-Bassich round out the cast. Also appearing are James Franzo (as the narrator), Sue Aikens, Agnes Hailstone (as Chip Hailstone), and Ricko DeWilde (as Martha Mae Salitan).

The major cinematographers involved in the making of this documentary are Micheal Cheeseman, John Gruber, Simeon Houtman, Danny Day, Joe Parker, Terrence Pratt, Ben Mullin, Benji Lanpher, Oliver Lynch, Mark Carrol, Jesse Phinney, Alan Weeks, James Holland, Jim Surette, David Lovejoy, and Mark St. Marie. There are a few more cinematographers who have also contributed to about 1-4 episodes. Because of them, Life Below Zero has received so much praise and recognition for its cinematography.
