Ashley Darby of THE REAL Housewives of Potomac has announced that she and her husband Michael Darby are divorcing. Ashley and Michael Darby initially appeared on The Real Housewives of Potomac in the inaugural season in 2016.
Ashley And Michael Darby Divorced For What Reason?
Ashley Darby, according to Bravo TV, said in a statement to The Daily Dish, “We’ve chosen to split up. We are aware that there will be many hypothetical reasons behind our decision. “People will quickly infer that the causes were too much intrusion by reality television into the most personal aspects of our lives, age gaps, cultural concerns, or child-rearing variances.
“All of these factors may have influenced our sincere love for each other, but no single factor is the underlying cause of our mutual choice to part ways. She continued, “We are now in very different stages of our life and have quite different plans for the future. We both want the other to be happy and fulfilled, but we know we can’t accomplish it together.”
This is not the couple’s first separation. They divorced in 2017 following an intense episode of their Bravo show, OZ, in which they managed their restaurant. Ashley Darby threatened her husband with divorce in the episode, and they later announced their separation. At the time, she told People that she still loved Michael and hoped they would reunite.
“We’re evaluating exactly what we anticipate from our relationship and if both of us can give each other what we need,” she told the site at the time. “We still care about each other, therefore the basis remains. It’s merely a matter of correcting some of the foundation’s flaws.”
However, Michael said during The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion that their split was partly due to their age gap. Michael, who was 57 at the time, stated that while Ashley was still in her twenties, she was “finding out who she is,” while he was nearing the end of his career.
”Ashley said to People that it was mostly due to the “trials and tribulations” of launching and owning their restaurant. It took a toll on me personally and on our marriage,” Ashley explained, adding, “Being in business with your spouse is hard for the faint of heart.”
Ashley Darby met Michael Darby while working as a bartender at a lounge operated by him in Washington, D.C. She was 22, and Michael was 29, but that didn’t matter when she saw him on a surveillance camera. In a 2016 interview with Bravo TV, Ashley stated, “I was in the main office with my manager when I noticed Michael go in on the surveillance video. Cleatus, Cleatus! I was intrigued even with a grainy, black-and-white image. “Y’all, love at first sight is genuine!”
Instead of approaching him and asking him out, Ashley inquired about a marketing internship. Michael hadn’t made a move after a few months of working for him, so Ashley took charge and invited him out for drinks. “The moral of the story is to trust your instincts and go for what you want!” Ashley told the publication.
They began dating in 2012, and Michael proposed in a helicopter flight over the Hudson River in New York after only a few months. They married two years later and had their first son, Dean Michael, in 2020, followed by their second son, Dylan, in March 2021.
