Kendall Jenner Backs Jaden Smith After He Leaves Kanye West’s Show

Kanye West’s recent Paris Fashion Week show has piqued Kendall Jenner’s interest. The model, whose older sister Kim Kardashian has four children with West, appears to have shown her displeasure with the rapper’s detrimental and controversial Yeezy collection — which included “White Lives Matter” t-shirts — by “liking” a few telling tweets.

Jaden Smith, 24, who was in attendance at West’s Yeezy presentation Monday night, tweeted, “I Had To Dip Lol,” apparently in response to West’s collection’s remark. Smith tweeted a half-hour later, “I Don’t Care Who It Is, If I Don’t Feel The Message, I’m Out,” before adding, “Black Lives Matter.”

Jenner, 26, “liked” all three of these messages on Twitter, indicating her support for Smith’s decision to leave West’s program. The singer, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, sent a number of other tweets about West’s gig on Monday and Tuesday, including one on Tuesday that stated, “Think For Yourself, Have Your Own Opinion.”

He also “liked” a tweet from a fan who mentioned Smith leaving West’s show. “Jaden smith was at Kanye’s gig and dipped when the ‘white lives matter’ shirts came out, that’s a genuine king right there YUP,” the tweet reads, alongside a screenshot of Smith’s tweet about dipping.

Smith has been vocal about his support for Black Lives Matter, and his most recent pinned tweet on Twitter shows him, his mother, and others marching in support of justice for Breonna Taylor, the Kentucky woman fatally murdered by police in her home in 2020.

Kanye West Dresses in a ‘White Lives Matter Shirt for His Yeezy Season 9 Fashion Show in Paris West’s Yeezy show at Paris Fashion Week sparked a lot of debate, mostly because of the “White Lives Matter” shirts he sent down the runway and wore himself.

West stirred outrage with the message on his black long-sleeve tee, which the Anti-Defamation League considers a “hate slogan.” The outfit was on the full show Monday when the designer gave a speech at the start of the event. It was also highlighted in a tweet by conservative commentator Candace Owens, who wore the same white shirt to the concert. The top’s front featured Pope John Paul II and the phrase “Seguiremos Tu Ejemplo,” which translates as “We Will Follow Your Example.”

West wore the shirt during a speech before the event, where he discussed classism in fashion, Kardashian’s Paris robbery, former manager Scooter Braun telling him he needed to “make more money” by continuing his 2016 Saint Pablo Tour, and how the tour’s cancellation is a moment he feels will be brought up “for the rest of my life.” He described it as “the ultimate stigma.” “People believe they have the right to approach me and label me insane. As if it doesn’t bother me. Alternatively, you don’t have to be insane to alter the world.”

West instantly responded to Karefa-Johnson by making disparaging remarks about the editor. West uploaded photos of Karefa-Johnson in postings that have since been deleted from his account, including one in which he stated Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour would despise her footwear.

West continued his rant by sharing a screenshot of a text conversation from someone urging him not to “insult that writer,” apparently referring to Karefa-Johnson. West did not include a caption with the shot, but Hadid promptly defended Karefa-Johnson, with whom she has previously collaborated, including on her March 2021 Vogue cover.

West said on Instagram Tuesday night that he and Karefa-Johnson met in person to settle their differences, referring to her as his “sister.” He further stated that they had spent two hours together and that the meeting had been filmed. Vogue also issued a statement Tuesday night expressing their support for her and confirming that she had met with West.
