Despite Chris Rock’s refusal to reveal how he feels, the comedian continues to make light of the situation by making light of it passing jokes.
As part of his “Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour,” Smith appeared on stage in Atlanta on Friday night, just hours after uploading a nearly six-minute video in which he apologized for slapping Rock during the Academy Awards in March.
Even while he’s made passing allusions to the slap-on comedy performances in the months since Rock hasn’t spoken out about it directly. During his performance on Friday, he stuck to the same strategy.
“Every one of us is attempting to portray ourselves as helpless victims. As long as everyone claims to be a victim, the actual victims won’t get their voices heard “Says Rock. “Even if Suge Smith struck me in the face… I went to work the following day and had children.”
Later, he said, “Anyone who claims that words hurt has never been hit in the face.”
After making a joke about his alopecia-suffering wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s haircut, Smith stormed the stage and punched Rock.
Smith begins the video on his social media sites with a message that reads:
“A lot of personal and mental work has been taking on in my life over the past several months… Many of your inquiries were legitimate, and as a result, I wanted to devote some time to respond to them “It’s written like that.
His thoughts turn to the incident that made news throughout the world, which harmed his reputation.
During his Oscar-winning speech for best actor in “King Richard,” he explains why he didn’t apologize to Rock.
“I was so drowsy,” he recalls. “Everything is hazy.”
As far as I know, Rock hasn’t responded to Smith’s attempts to get in touch with him.
“As a result, I would like to apologize to you, Chris. I’m ready to chat anytime you’re ready to talk because my behavior was unacceptable.”
Rock’s mother, relatives, and even his brother Tony Rock (who starred in the Smiths’ 2007 sitcom, “All of Us”) were all apologetic in their response to Smith’s apology.
Smith remembers their friendship fondly. This is irreversible because Tony Rock was my man.
To his family, Smith made apologies to fellow Academy Award nominees, including his wife and children.
Despairing other people is his primary trauma, he claims.
“It stings to let people down because I despise it.”
“To put light and love and joy into the world,” Smith says in a letter to his fans.
His final words are, “If you hang in there, I swear we’ll be friends again.”
As a result, Smith will be unable to attend any Oscar ceremonies for the next ten years. In March, Smith apologized on Instagram for his “unacceptable and unforgivable” actions.
