After a Stolen Suv Strikes Several Other Vehicles on Chicago’s South Side, Two People Are Killed and Eleven Are Hospitalized
Following a multi-vehicle collision in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood, two persons are dead. On Wednesday, at about 5 p.m., the collision happened close to 87th Street and Cottage Grove. According to Chicago police, a stolen Dodge Charger from Markham entered the intersection at a high rate of speed while going the opposite way—northbound in the southbound lanes—during the evening rush and struck seven vehicles.

Supt. David Brown stated, “The Dodge Charger in question was reported stolen in Markham earlier today. Nine adults and seven youngsters who were passengers in other vehicles were hurt and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
A 53-year-old woman in a silver automobile, according to the police, was transferred to Christ Medical Center with unidentified injuries. A 54-year-old guy with a dislocated kneecap was brought to Trinity Hospital after he was found nearby standing on the sidewalk.
In a Volkswagen involved in the collision, a 6-year-old kid and a 56-year-old lady were sent to St. Bernard Hospital in good and fair health. A 33-year-old woman, three children, and a minivan were also involved. The three kids, a 4-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl were all transported in good health to Comer Children’s Hospital.

Three passengers were in a Lexus when it was also struck. According to the police, a 37-year-old lady was operating the vehicle alongside two boys, ages 10 and 18. All of them were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in a respectable state.
Police found a long rifle inside the stolen car. The deceased people who were riding in the stolen Dodge Charger are being identified, according to the authorities. Wednesday’s media briefing at the scene was attended by Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who urged locals to drive more slowly.
About 150 traffic-related fatalities occurred last year, according to Lightfoot. Take your foot off the accelerator and observe the speed restrictions. We’ve already had over 100 accidents this year, and many of them are due to speed.
