Amber Heard Reveals She Still Plans to Donate Her Divorce Settlement Amount: I Made a Pledge!
Amber Heard says she will fulfill her commitment to contribute the USD 7 million she received in the divorce settlement from Johnny Depp. The 36-year-old actress told Savannah Guthrie on the Today show, “I made a vow, and that pledge is made over time by its nature.” This was part of an exclusive interview with NBC News.
According to PEOPLE, Heard made her comment after Guthrie asked her, “You said before that you’d give the $7 million you got in the divorce to a good cause. Even though they aired a tape of you saying that you had, the court found out that you hadn’t done it yet. Would you say that this caused the jury to doubt your honesty?”

After being asked this, Heard said, “I don’t know, because I feel like so much of the trial was geared to cast dispersions on who I am as a human, my credibility, to label me a liar in every way you can.” This is consistent with testimony from Heard during the trial, where she explained that she was unable to keep making payments due to the cost of defending herself against Depp’s case.
Amber Heard said she donated half her divorce settlement from Johnny Depp to the ACLU. But recent court testimony and tax forms tell a different story — that at least some of that money came from Elon Musk. https://t.co/0acYAxkamt

Just in case you didn’t know, Both Depp, 59, and Heard, 38, agreed to a USD 7 million divorce settlement in August of 2016. This is in addition to any funds that I have previously given away and will continue to give away in the future,” the Machete Kills actress revealed the same month.
According to her statement at the time, Heard plans to donate to several different groups, including those with “a specific focus to eliminate violence against women,” as well as the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she has volunteered for the past decade.
Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s attorney, said on the June 2 episode of Today that her client would not be able to pay the sum, and Heard agreed. Bredehoft added in the same interview that Heard “definitely” plans to file an appeal of the verdict.
