Early Life

In the New York City borough of Queens, New York, Christopher Charles Cuomo was born on August 9, 1970. Mario Cuomo, the former Governor of New York, and Matilda Raffa Cuomo were the parents of his son. It was in 1926 that Mario Cuomo’s father, Andrea, and his mother, Immacolata, emigrated from Italy to the United States. Andrew, Andrew’s younger brother, is the current governor of New York state. Maria Cuomo Cole, his sister, runs Cuomo Cole Productions, which specializes in documentaries with a social conscience. She is also married to fashion designer Kenneth Cole. A doctor, Margaret, is his other sister. Cuomo’s ancestry is Italian. Chris’s maternal and paternal grandparents were from Sicily and Italy, respectively. The Albany Academy, a private preparatory school in Albany, New York, was Chris’s alma mater. Cuomo made appearances on CNBC, CNN, and MSNBC as a journalist in his early years. His job was to cover controversial social issues as a correspondent for Fox Files on Fox News.
