Jay Briscoe Dead at 38 Cause of Death is a Car Crash

The passing of independent tag-team veteran Jay Briscoe, whose real name was Jamin Pugh, at the age of 38 has left the world of professional wrestling in a state of disbelief. At the time of his passing, he was already under contract with Ring of Honor (ROH).

On Tuesday, the announcement was announced by Tony Khan, who is the owner of both All-Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Ring of Honor (ROH). It was stated in a statement that he and his brother, Mark Briscoe, had dominated the ROH tag-team division and continued to rule as champions to this day. This statement was published on Twitter.

At first, it was not clear what had caused the death of the legendary tag-team athlete. On the other hand, well-known wrestling expert Dave Meltzer disclosed that Pugh had passed away in a car accident. Meltzer initially reported that the automobile collision took place in Laurel, Maryland; however, he swiftly corrected himself to clarify that the collision actually took place in Laurel, Delaware.

According to Meltzer, the collision resulted in the deaths of two people, one of whom was named Jay Briscoe. Meltzer has also spoken out against supporters who have been disrespectful to Pugh’s family since the news of his passing was announced.

At approximately 5:30 in the evening, the Delaware State Police received a report that indicated there had been a fatal car accident in the Laurel neighborhood of Delaware, which was located near the intersection of Laurel Road and Little Hill Road.

Jay Briscoe, one-half of the Briscoes, passed away while holding the ROH championship at the time of his death. According to JTR Wrestling, he was a poultry farmer in the state of Delaware in addition to having a residence there.

Even though he was never signed with WWE, he has left a lasting legacy that demonstrates it is not necessary for a wrestler to be contacted by the world’s top wrestling promotion in order to establish a reputation for himself in the industry.

In his career spanning more than 20 years, Jay Briscoe has won the ROH World Championship twice, in addition to winning the ROH Tag Team Championships a combined 13 times with his brother Mark Briscoe. Most recently, he and Mark Briscoe prevailed over FTR to capture the ROH Tag Team Championship for a record 13th time during the ROH Final Battle PPV event that took place a month ago.

The Briscoes were among the first people to be inducted into ROH’s Hall of Fame when it was established a year ago because of the significant role they have played throughout the promotion’s existence.  Many people have been taken aback by his passing; wrestlers from all across the industry, including those from WWE, have sent their condolences and expressed their disbelief at his passing.
