John Cleese Discussed How His Unfortunate Divorce ‘cleaned Him Out!

John Cleese’s divorce from psychiatrist Alyce Faye Eichelberger, which took place in 2008, was quite expensive. The couple had been married for 15 years. The divorce cost Cleese £12 million, a huge chunk of his wealth since he had to “feed the beast” by giving his ex-wife £650,000 a year. Cleese admitted in 2015 that he had paid the entire alimony amount himself after working for seven years to save up the money.

He elaborated, “Before I got separated from Alyce Faye Eichelberger, I was fairly well off.

I was always content, but I had no idea how much money I had.

However, I have been working hard for the past seven years to pay off the alimony. Comparatively, she’s in far better shape than I am.

You might wallow in resentment over that, I suppose. Or you can simply find it laughable.”

The German weekly news magazine said that he planned to make his final payment in the summer of 2015.

Seven years later, the Monty Python legend is already in his early 80s and shows no signs of slowing down.

Last year, he played Mr. Bridwell in the big-screen adaptation of Clifford the Big Red Dog.

The 82-year-old, who will turn 83 in October, expressed his desire to relax and read “a lot of books,” but he knows he must continue working owing to a lack of savings.

Whether questioned in the Thursday, August 25 episode of LBC’s Full Disclosure show when he had finally found happiness, he said, “[I’m] looking forward to [finding happiness].”

I’ve never had the kind of money that people who work in American television had, so the divorce did utterly sweep me out, which is a shame since there are so many books I want to read.

I’m almost 83 years old, and it cleaned me out so I can still work. And I still haven’t been able to save up very much money, despite my continued employment.

However, the actor from The Frost Report, whose career took off after he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, has stated that he hopes to become wealthy enough from his upcoming projects to retire.

But if one or two of the bigger ones come off, Cleese added, “then I’m going to sit in the sun with a lot of animals surrounding me and laugh with my wife.

John Cleese Divorce

My wife and my daughter are the funniest people I know. They are the two people who have made me laugh more often than anyone else. And I’m going to do nothing except read a lot to figure out what this whole life thing is about.

On Thursday, August 25th’s episode of LBC’s Full Disclosure podcast, he was asked when he had finally reached a point of personal fulfillment in his life, to which he said, “[I’m] looking forward to [achieving personal fulfillment].

I’ve never had the kind of money that people who worked in American television had, so there are a lot of books I’ve always wanted to read but I’ve had to put them on hold because of my divorce.

I’m almost 83 years old and I’m still working because it purged me. And I haven’t been able to save much despite continuing to work.

Nonetheless, the actor from The Frost Report, whose career took off after he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, has stated that he hopes to become wealthy enough from his upcoming projects to retire.

But if one or two of the bigger ones come off, Cleese said, “then I’m going to sit in the sun with a bunch of animals surrounding me and laugh with my wife.

My wife and my daughter are two of the funniest individuals I know. When I’m around them, they are the only ones who can make me chuckle. And I guess I’ll simply have to do a lot of reading to figure out what the point of life is.
