Marvel-DC Universe Crossover ‘ Likely’ Under James Gunn

With James Gunn at the head of DC Studios and having directed the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy for Marvel, would the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe ever cross over? Gunn recently told Empire Magazine, “I’m sure it’s more possible now that I’m in charge [at DC].”

“Whose to say? But that’s several years away,” Gunn continued. “In my opinion, we must first define what we are doing here in DC. If I said we hadn’t talked about it, I’d be lying. But every chat has been incredibly lighthearted and enjoyable. As his final film under the Marvel banner, Gunn is starting the press tour in promotion of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

” With “The Suicide Squad” in 2021, he already has one DC film under his belt. Nevertheless, with Peter Safran as his partner, Gunn is now in charge of DC Studios and has created a new DC Universe that will debut with “Superman: Legacy” in 2025. Gunn is also writing and directing the film.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn said, “It’s not like ‘Superman’ is going to feel exactly like a ‘Guardians’ movie.” It genuinely is very different. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has openly stated his support for Gunn as he takes over as CEO of DC Studios. Gunn, who is co-head of the studio, is creating a new DC universe that will be told through films, TV series, and video games.

“Superman: Legacy,” “Supergirl: World of Tomorrow,” and “The Bold and the Brave,” the latter of which is a Batman and Robin film, are among the titles on Gunn’s new DC Universe’s initial release schedule. Superhero weariness, according to Gunn, “I think there is such a thing.” “In my opinion, it has nothing to do with superheroes.

If you lose focus on the important issue at hand, which is the character, it has to do with the kinds of stories that get to be told. We adore Superman. We adore Batman. We adore Iron Man. We have these wonderful individuals in our hearts, thus they are the reason for this. It is incredibly dull if all that is shown on screen is nonsense. The drudgery of not having an emotionally compelling narrative also makes me tired, said Gunn.

“Whether they are superhero movies or not makes no difference. No matter how creative the designs and Visuals are, or how clever the bashing moments are, if there isn’t a story at the core of it, watching things pound each other just gets tiresome. I believe it to be a very, very true feeling. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will debut in theaters on May 5 according to Disney, and “Superman: Legacy” will hit theaters on July 11.
