Rupert Grint Open to Reprising Harry Potter Role
During a Q3 earnings call in late 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stated that he was open to collaborating with J. K. Rowling in the future. Zaslav’s remark, along with a revelation from a reliable industry insider, is undoubtedly what fueled suspicions that Warner Bros.
Discovery is working on a ninth episode of the Harry Potter property, or perhaps a reboot. Rubert Grint wants to be a part of either. Rupert Grint is willing to reprise his part in a Harry Potter sequel if his co-stars agree as well. Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, has stated his willingness to reprise his role if a sequel is made.
This was stated by the 34-year-old actor during a recent visit on This Morning to promote his upcoming film Knock at the Cabin. When one of the show’s hosts inquired if he was interested in seeing what Ron is up to now, he replied, “Yes, I would revisit it if the timing was right and everyone was starting to return.
It’s a character that means a lot to me. I practically grew up with him. We kind of merged into one person. I’m also quite protective of him.” Given Grint’s demand that his co-stars from the series reprise their roles in order for him to return, he may wish to take a breather.
For one thing, Radcliffe doesn’t appear to be eager to return to the Wizarding World. During an interview with the New York Times in early 2022, the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story star was asked if he would be interested in returning for another film, similar to the HBO Max special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley in the film, which also starred Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. He responded that he could only attend the reunion because he was no longer associated with Harry Potter on a daily basis.

He also stated that he is content with his current situation and that returning for another film will not change that. The Now You See Me 2 actor stated that, while he will not rule out a future return, he is not yet prepared for it. In his own words, “I’m not going to say never, but the “Star Wars” folks had at least 30, 40 years before returning. It’s just been ten years for me.
It’s not something I’m particularly interested in right now.” Emma Watson, on the other hand, has been silent on the possibility of returning to the franchise for a long time. She last addressed anything slightly related to the matter in 2017, during an interview with EW Radio, when she replied, “Definitely nothing planned at the moment.”
However, the Little Women star stated that she might alter her mind in ten years. One thing is certain: she is willing to return for another reunion on the film’s 20th anniversary, as she stated in an interview with Vogue. Ralph Fiennes, who plays Voldemort, is also open to returning.
Apart from Grint, Watson, and Radcliffe, other members of the series have recently commented on a possible return. Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort, and Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, are both open to reprising their roles, while Chris Columbus, who helmed the first two films in the franchise, is also open to directing the sequel.
M. Night Shyamalan’s latest project, Knock at the Cabin, is a psychological horror film written and directed by Grint. It is the actor’s first film role in eight years, and he appeared on This Morning with his co-star, Ben Aldridge, to promote it. The film will be released on February 3rd.
While a new Harry Potter film is unlikely, a new game set in the Wizarding World universe is on the way. Hogwarts Legacy, the contentious open-world adventure game, will be released on February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
