After meeting skateboarding legend Tony Hawk at a San Diego skatepark at the age of nine, Shaun began winning snowboarding competitions and excelling at skateboarding.

White became a professional snowboarder and skateboarder when he was just 13 and 17 years old, respectively. First, Shaun won the Winter and Summer X Games in the same sport, making him the first athlete to do so in two different sports. When White won the U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships at the age of 16, he became the youngest athlete to do so in the history of the sport. Shaun was 19 when he won his first Olympic gold medal in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 Winter Olympics. “Burton Global Open Champion” was bestowed upon him after winning the Burton U.S. Open in 2007, as well as the European Snowboarding Championships in 2003 and 2004, respectively. Shaun won the FIS World Cup Men’s Halfpipe in 2009 and the Winter X Games’ Men’s Snowboard SuperPipe in 2012, becoming the first man to ever achieve a perfect score in the event’s history. He finished third in the Pipe & Slope competition in 2013 and was injured while training for the Winter Olympics in New Zealand in 2017. In the aftermath of a superpipe crash, White was hospitalized for five days with 62 stitches on his face. Shaun was able to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics despite his injuries, and he won his third gold medal in the process.
