Alleged stalker pestering SF women; victims want city action, summary
WEST COAST (KGO) — SAN FRANCISCO Around the months, a man has allegedly stalked women all over San Francisco, following them, caressing them, and even kissing them. However, the city has done little to stop him. Victims and the general public are now calling for the offender to be permanently apprehended.
Heather Knight, a journalist for the San Francisco Chronicle, visited “Getting Answers” to discuss her article, which alleges that the city lost its time to intervene and women are “paying for it.”
After numerous women complained about being raped and harassed by a guy called Bill Jean Hobbs, Knight posted their frightening accounts on social media. The district attorney’s office is new to the 33-year-old, who has been detained several times in San Francisco recently for various charges, including groping a teen.
According to Knight, the man was detained for “following, stalking, and grabbing a youngster on the streets of West Portal, squeezing them close to him saying, ‘You’re my angel, my ideal partner.'” Hobbs was apprehended following the teen’s 911 call and sentenced to a brief stint in prison. Knight claims that Hobbs assaulted more women in San Francisco after a judge dropped the case in the “interest of justice.” Hobbs was extradited to Southern California on an auto theft warrant and then returned to San Francisco.
“It frequently occurred in broad daylight on the streets. The middle of the day finds people going about their daily routines, strolling to and from the gym, the office, and home to drop off groceries or do other errands. And he walks up to them and starts talking; usually, it’s a hit on the women where he says, “You’re my soulmate.” Please know how much I adore you. Stunning. Asked, “How did you get this way?” To quote Knight: It gets worse than that: “He told one woman running in the Panhandle that he was Jesus Christ.“
The accused stalker’s prey wasn’t limited to females. Hobbs also has a recent record of trespassing in the Marina District. Knight stated that Hobbs entered the property through an unlocked entrance and pretended to be the new roommate by informing the male homeowner that he was moving in.
“He arrived on a bicycle with the rucksack, acting as though he had always been in the area. He had been looking at the family photographs and touring the bedrooms. “Knight was able to relate to the horror that the homeowner had gone through. Even more disturbing, Hobbs informed officers he was Scott Peterson, the guy notorious for killing his pregnant wife and their unborn child.
Since he hadn’t interfered with or taken anything from the property, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins dismissed the case after he was arrested for trespassing and supplying false information.
Knight stated that she contacted San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaff after the event for clarification. Their investigation concluded that Hobbs, for mere trespassing, would have faced a minimum of four and six months behind bars. Knight said that the sentence would be substantially longer if all of the allegations of stalking and violence were considered. As more people come forward to accuse Hobbs of following and harassing them, Knight has revealed several identifying characteristics that may help police locate him:
