The cast of Mean Girls the Musical has shared the sad news that Stephanie Bissonnette, who played Cady Heron, has passed away at the age of 32. In addition to her other talents as a dance instructor and choreographer, Stephanie was cast as Dawn Schweitzer in the successful Broadway production.
The news of her passing was shared on the production’s official Twitter page in the form of a statement that read: “The Mean Girls community is in mourning over the loss of Stephanie Bissonnette, and our hearts are broken for them.
Stephanie was a member of our Broadway company from the very first performance all the way through the very last one. She was the original Dawn Schweitzer. It proceeded by saying: “She graced our stage with the strongest talent Broadway has ever seen, inspired us with her battling spirit and bravery, and filled our theatre with joy and companionship. She was one of the most talented performers Broadway has ever seen.

After finalizing plans for 2023, The Specials bandmate described themselves as being “struck hard” by Terry Hall’s passing. “During this difficult time, we want Stephanie’s family, friends, and the entire Mean Girls community to know that we are thinking of and praying for all of you.
We are going to miss her tremendously, and in her honor, we want everyone to spend today engaging in an activity that brings them joy.” There is currently no evidence to suggest what may have caused the death. In 2019, Stephanie was given a diagnosis with medulloblastoma, a form of cancer that affects the brain.
According to SurvivorNet, she underwent surgery in February of that year, and she resumed her participation on the show in October after completing radiotherapy and recovering from the procedure. In the wake of the news of her passing, followers of her took to various social media platforms to share their own messages.
One user on Twitter penned the following: “I was shocked to learn of the passing of Stephanie Bissonnette, who not only starred in but also choreographed the musical Mean Girls on Broadway. I am sending lots of love to her and all of her friends and family.”
Someone stated: “After waking up, I found out that Stephanie Bissonnette had passed away. Oh, man. Once, I was afforded the opportunity to engage in conversation with her. She had such a kind and subdued demeanor. When I was going through a difficult time in my life, Mean Girls was there for me, and Stephanie played a significant role in that. She put up such a valiant effort. F*** cancer. Get some rest.”
