2 Arrested Following a Shooting Involving Officers

Following an alleged robbery, a brief police chase, and a shooting, two suspects were apprehended in Denver. The Denver Police Department tweeted on Wednesday morning that they were investigating an officer-involved shooting involving Thornton Police Department personnel.

Report of burglary in Thornton

At 3:35 in the morning, Thornton police were contacted about a break-in at the VFW on 10217 Quivas St. TPD claims that when police got to the VFW, they saw the suspect’s automobile leaving the parking lot. The cops followed the suspects to the intersection of 84th Avenue and Greenwood Boulevard while driving an unmarked vehicle. A pursuit down southbound Interstate 25 started after one of the suspects in the automobile opened fire at the police.

The suspects exited on 48th Avenue, lost control, and crashed in the 4800 block of Eliot in the Chaffee Park neighbourhood, ending the pursuit. The driver and the passenger fled the site during the collision. According to DPD, the driver turned around and shot an officer. The defendant was put into custody when the cop attacked him with his weapon in retaliation. The traveller was detained as well.

TPD reports that there were no injuries to officers. The wounded suspect is being treated at a nearby hospital and is doing well. No Denver police officers were involved in the incident, according to DPD, and the department is only looking into it because it happened within city borders. DPD, the Colorado State Patrol, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations are all investigating the case.
