He was the first head coach in NCAA Division I history to win both the men’s and women’s national tennis titles.
Bryan was the head coach of Georgia Tech’s women’s tennis team until July 1999, when he accepted a position at the University of Florida. Georgia Tech’s women’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history when he was coaching. Shelton received the ITA’s top coach award in 2007.
