Halyna Hutchins Husband Says Shooting Charges for Alec Baldwin Are ‘comfort’
Halyna Hutchins cinematographer of Ukrainian descent and investigative journalist with dual citizenship. The involuntary manslaughter accusations that are being brought against Alec Baldwin have been welcomed by the husband of Halyna Hutchins, who is a cinematographer. He referred to the charges as “a consolation to the family.”
It was revealed by the authorities in New Mexico that Mr. Baldwin and other members of the cast and crew of the western film Rust will be tried for the death of Hutchins on the set of the film in October of 2021.
“We want to thank the Santa Fe Sheriff and the District Attorney for concluding their thorough investigation and determining that charges for involuntary manslaughter are warranted for the killing of Halyna Hutchins with conscious disregard for human life,” the family of Halyna Hutchins said through their attorney, Brian Panish.
“We want to thank the Santa Fe Sheriff and the District Attorney for concluding their thorough investigation and determining the charges for involuntary manslaughter. In addition, the statement said, “Our independent investigation supports the notion that charges are appropriate.”

The knowledge that no one is above the law in New Mexico is a source of solace for the family. We are in full favor of the charges, and we will participate fully in this prosecution. We have high hopes that the legal system will be able to safeguard the general people and bring those who break the law to justice.
On October 21, 2021, Mr. Baldwin, who was also appearing in the film and producing it, opened fire on 42-year-old Hutchins while they were rehearsing inside a church on the set of the film. The director of the film, Joel Souza, was also hit and wounded by a live bullet that was fired from the apparently “cold” firearm, but he managed to survive the incident.
Mr. Baldwin has denied on multiple occasions that he pulled the gun’s trigger, despite the fact that an FBI study states that the firearm could not be fired without someone pulling the trigger. The death of Hutchins was initially found to be the result of an accident by the state medical examiner.
On Thursday, the Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb made public the impending accusations that will be brought against Mr. Baldwin as well as other members of the crew.
Because of the incident, it is anticipated that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who worked as the movie’s armorer, would be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Dave Halls, who works as an assistant director on the movie, has already agreed to enter a plea of guilty to the allegation of the negligent use of a deadly weapon.
The district attorney has stated that the charges will be formally filed before the month of January is over. The allegations that are being brought against Mr. Baldwin involve a possible maximum punishment of 18 months in jail.
Ms. Carmack-Altwies has issued a statement in which she says the following: “After a comprehensive analysis of the evidence and the statutes of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to press criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film team.” Under my watch, nobody is above the law, and everyone has the right to be treated fairly.
