Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain Breaks a Record Ahead of Closure Date
Before it was scheduled to close on Monday, the attraction Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World smashed a record for the park. On the very last day that Splash Mountain was open for business, the website Thrill Data, which tracks wait times at amusement parks, reported that the attraction’s line stretched out for a total of 220 minutes, which is more than three hours.
According to the website, the previous record was 210 minutes, which was set in the year 2020. While certain Disney Parks attractions, such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Animal Kingdom’s Avatar Flight of Passage, have wait times of more than 200 minutes on their opening day, it is unusual for Splash Mountain to have a line volume comparable to that of these other attractions. Inside The Magic, a blog about theme parks reported
When will the Splash Mountain attraction at Disneyland be permanently closed? The opinions of theme park bloggers are included. The well-known water ride is going to undergo extensive renovations and will reopen as a “Princess and the Frog” attraction in late year 2024. The new name for the ride will be “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.”

The animated film “Song of the South,” which was released in 1946, is the source material for the characters that appear on Splash Mountain. This film has been criticized for perpetuating negative stereotypes of black males and for having an overly romanticized portrayal of the South after the Civil War.
The rollercoaster will also be re-themed at Disneyland in California, although the theme park has not disclosed when this particular version of the attraction would be taken offline for refurbishment. Coming soon to Disneyland will be a restaurant with a “Princess and the Frog” motif.
In addition to the brand new attraction, Disneyland has revealed that they intend to open “Tiana’s Palace,” a restaurant based on the movie “The Princess and the Frog.” The French Market restaurant will have its space transformed into the new restaurant on February 17, after which it will be closed permanently.
According to the announcement made by the theme park, the new eatery will have a quick service menu that is influenced by the flavors of New Orleans, will expand on existing fan-favorite dishes, and will explore seasonal possibilities.
